Sažetak
The paper describes the lace belonging to Art Nouveau. Various lace types are presented, as well as the development of their motifs over the period from 19th to 20th century when their use in clothing was extraordinarily wide. Lace-making was very developed in the mentioned period, particularly in the largest lace-making centers: France and Flanders. The lace-making machine invented at the beginning of the 19th century exerted the greatest influence on the development of lace-making. Lace production left its mark on European countries such as Italy, Germany, Austria and Russia. Hand and machine-made lace was very often implemented in clothing items. Lace motifs formed a peculiar character of article of clothing. In this period lace was used as an accessory item for men's and women's clothing and was manufactured in extraordinarily large quantities.
