Sažetak
Patients suffering from incurable diseases who are going to die within a year are considered palliative patients. Treatment of such patients is very challenging since they suffer from a whole series of comorbidities, frequently experience complications of health problems and require hospitalizations. Palliative medications are only one component of management of palliative patient and its aim should be to be as simple and non-traumatic as possible. Nevertheless, healthcare professionals often do not recognise specificities of medications used in palliative patient. For this reason we examined information on medications available in discharge letters (DL) for palliative patients with the focus on total medication profile, pain management, interactions and unnecessary medications.
