Sažetak
Governments worldwide are struggling with overstretched budgets and difficulties in satisfying ever greater budgetary needs in their countries. It is why some simultaneous international initiatives have been taken recently: Open Government Partnership, Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency and Global Movement for Budget Transparency, Accountability, and Participation. The Republic of Croatia committed itself to participate in the Open Government Partnership and the Institute of Public Finance is a member of the Global Movement for Budget Transparency, Accountability, and Participation. The Institute will continue to research and disseminate results of its researches as an active member, with a representative in the Steering Committee of the Global Movement, hoping to contribute to greater budget transparency, government accountability, and citizen participation. The following text reports on the First Global Assembly for Budget Transparency, Accountability and Participation held in Dar es Saalam, Tanzania on November 18- 19, 2011, where Katarina Ott represented the Institute of Public Finance.
