Sažetak
More recently or better to say within the last couple of months we have witnessed numerous disturbing articles on nautical tourism, some of which encourage quasi-development and at the same time publicly attack the relevant ministries. The daily press publish unauthenticated information while distancing itself from the text by inserting a note "according to the top expert in nautical tourism Mr XY". What is going on in Croatia? What is the purpose of all this besides self- promotion of the so-called renowned experts? The efforts made by the experts and scientists to contribute to development of not only nautical tourism but all industries of relevance in the Croatian economy are commendable. Nevertheless, it is necessary to consider the competencies since otherwise misinformation and confusion are multiplied. According to the daily press articles, when publicly expressing our attitudes we seem to be even wiser than the Pope himself, and each and every one of us would easily save the country from the crisis, misconception, ignorance and incompetence. Consequently, nautical tourism in Croatia has reached the desirable level of development, which is commendable and does not pass unnoticed in Europe and the world, especially in the time of global economic and development crisis. Germany, recognised for its outbound tourism, is in the process of developing the largest European wellness centre and a large marina on the Baltic. Other countries are also increasingly focused on development of nautical tourism, diminishing thus, at least to a degree, the burden of crisis in their global economy. This road has been taken by our neighbours on the north and south, east and west. Amidst all this some quasi-experts almost desperately make public attacks and question the position of Croatia in this sphere. Are there reasons for panic? What and where are the solutions? Indeed, how to avoid the unnecessary disagreements? Of course, those are the questions that the experts and politicians as well as relevant ministries are being faced with, both on short-term and long- term basis. This research is a part of that.
