Sažetak
The art historian Rajko Vujičić, member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, who has died recently (Gornje Polje near Nikšić, 1940, Kotor, 2016), is one of the key personalities of Montenegrin art history in the second half of the 20th century, tohether with Miloš Milošević and Pavle Mijović. A person with a vast education, a scholar in German language and literature and art historian, he was preoccupied, just as intellectuals in the period of the Renaissance, with a wide range of topics from Montenegrin cultural heritage. They include medieval sites and monasteries, Romanesque-Byzantine and Gothic-Renaissance painting, Ortodox and Roman Catholic baroque painting from the Bay of Kotor, and specific topics such as elements of folk culture in the veneration of St. Tryphon or graphic design of old books. His studies and books deal with almost all important cultural and historical- artistic phenomena that related to the area of present-day Montenegro from the lateantiquity until the modern age. However, one of the key interest areas of his research was art of painter Lovro Dobričević and his circle that is connected to the Bay of Kotor and Dubrovnik. Therefore, the paper pays special attention to Vujičić's scientific contribution to reconstructing the art of painting in the Bay of Kotor in the period from 1440 to 1510. Together with Vojislav J. Đurić, Vujičić was among the first to carry out research in the specific style and iconography of the fresco painting in the Bay of Kotor of the time, which was conditioned by the Church and political circumstances of the time. The author also dwells on his contribution to the research in the work of miniaturist and graphic design of books at the court of Ivan Crnojević in the Bay of Kotor.
