Sažetak
Tthere is a great need to properly address fluid driven fracture processes, especially in rock. Existing analytical and numerical tools (both finite and discrete element) are limited in their fracture approaches, material modeling representation and thermal-hydro-mechanical (THM) coupling aspects. Finite element (FEM) codes normally use a continuum mechanics approach that does not take into consideration the discreteness of all the fractures present in a system. FEM codes can deal with at most a few tens of cracks explicitly and have limited fluid capabilities.
