Sažetak
The work deals with the issues related to level crossings in Croatia. In presents the number of level crossings and the indications of possible elimination and level separation of the crossings. Regarding traffic safety, the number of accidents and emergency cases is presented, as well as the determined causes and consequences of these events. The solution for a safer communication across the crossings is presented (protection by signalling-safety devices and by level separation) as well as the suggestion of classifying these solutions with the aim of reducing the costs of installing the devices, that is, of constructing the facilities (overpasses and underpasses). The paper also presents the legal regulations in Croatia wich deal with this field. Based on the presented data further activities are proposed regarding the solving of the issues related to level crossings.
