Sažetak
DICOM standard is the most ambitious project so far conducted by electronic industry and medical profession. Simplified, DICOM is the standard for communication between medical imaging and associated information. Versions 1.0 and 2.0 rely on information model that have been used at radiological departments. Data elements in these models are grouped based on experience of standard designers. Besides that DICOM 3.0 is based on explicit and detailed models how "objects" are involved in radiological activities and what is their interrelationship. These models are known as entity relationship or E-R models and are directions for users and equipment manufacturers how to read, write and explain given information. Future of this standard is promising and as Internet does will became something unavoidable in medical practice.
