Sažetak
Recent scholarly attention drawn to the iconography of Lotto’s portraits has also yielded an in-depth view on the sitters’ fashionable dress. The aim of this presentation was to address more thoroughly the materiality of not only the secular garments and furnishings seen in the portraits, but also of vestments and other ecclesiastical attire that can be studied across Lotto’s œuvre. The talk brought forward the visual analysis of textiles (primarily damasks and velvets) and embroideries that can be clearly distinguished in Lotto’s paintings, offering an interpretation of their patterns and techniques while juxtaposing the extant examples – primarily those in the textile collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum – with their corresponding, faithfully depicted counterparts.
