Sažetak
Many Croatian higher education institutions have defined quality as the basis of their development strategy, according to the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance. Thus, the University of Applied Sciences VERN’ has integrated a quality assurance system into its implemented quality management system. Namely, one of identified mechanisms for quality control in the segments of teaching and studying conditions is definitely a survey conducted on students’ satisfaction. The purpose of this paper is to identify the extent to which the students of VERN’ are familiar with its quality system, as well as the possibility of affecting their awareness of the quality system segments by teaching them about quality in general. The paper consists of the theoretical introduction of the German project Qualitätspakt Lehre, taught about at the course of Business German Language at VERN’, as well as the empirical research based on the survey of the VERN’ students. The project Qualitätspakt Lehre is managed by the Ministry of Science and Education (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) at 186 institutions of higher education in all 16 state counties (Bundesländer) of Federal Republic of Germany. The project aims at improving the quality level of teaching process and study programmes. The students of VERN’ might learn about the concept of the mentioned project and best practice cases at the course of Business German Language. The empirical research has been conducted for the needs of this paper indicating the students’ awareness of VERN’ quality system, but additional education on quality system segments and European best practice cases will enhance their understanding of a quality concept. The research also contributes to designing the curriculum of VERN’ internal synergic model of teaching about quality.
