Sažetak
Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering is a higher educational institution within the University of Zagreb, Croatia. The Faculty organizes and conducts academic studies while engaging in the scientific work in the domain of engineering sciences in the fields of mining, petroleum and geological engineering. Education in the field of ionizing radiation protection is performed within the Undergraduate study programme in Mining Engineering, at the Graduate study programme in Geotechnics and Waste treatment and disposal. It is also a part of lectures of the Doctoral Study of Applied Geosciences, Mining and Petroleum Engineering, module: Mining, and part of University interdisciplinary specialist programmes “Environmental Engineering” and “Crisis Management”. In the undergraduate study, part of lectures in Ventilation and Dewatering, as well as Safety Management Techniques is related to Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM), radon gas in mining & tunnelling, radon monitoring in soil and water, detecting and measuring ionizing radiation and dosimetry. Within graduate studies, as a part of lectures in Repositories of radioactive waste, special part is dedicated to design and performance of radioactive waste, safety case and safety in the field of ionizing radiation. At the doctoral studies, special accent is placed on Radiological Risk Assessment. Practical part of studies is performed at the Laboratory for spectroscopy and field lectures at the museum mine „St. Barbara”, Rude, Croatia. Regular visits to Krško nuclear power plant in Slovenia are part of courses, as well as cooperation with the CAST consortium within their training courses. A great deal of cooperation in lectures and practical laboratory work is performed in cooperation with colleagues from the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health.
