Sažetak
This chapter analyses the individual status of the Member of the European Parliament (MEP), dealing primarily with the European Parliament and MEPs through the European integration process, but also focusing on the legal regulation of the individual status of the Member of the European Parliament. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an analysis of the relations between the European Parliament and the Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in view of the European Law integration process. In particular, it will provide a unitary definition of the legal status of the MEP under EU law, and an overview of how this individual status changed throughout the European integration process. Lastly, this chapter will answer the question of what role EU law played in developing the individual status of the MEP and whether the concept of MEP status has a new function within the Lisbon Treaty regulation.
