Sažetak
This paper reviews the research on geodynamics accomplished by geodesists on the eastern side of Adriatic Sea. The recent technological advance in precise positioning using GPS opened the new possibilities for detection and interpretation of inter-plate movement in this seismically very active area. The research started in 1994 with the first stage of Croatian Geodynamical Project (CRODYN), continued with another two campaigns performed in 1996 and 1998, yielding to significant horizontal and vertical velocities at the measured points. In addition, a very dense geodynamical network was stabilized in the area of the Croatian capitol Zagreb. Measurements performed in 1997 and 2001 resulted with a velocity field, which can be used for further interpretation of seismicity in Medvednica region. First results are to be expected from recently activated permanent stations in Dubrovnik and Osijek, which are the part of IGS-network as well as EUREF-Permanent. Geodynamic research activities in Croatia continue on three distinct areas: the City of Zagreb, the International geodynamical test area Plitvice Lakes, and Adriatic coast (CRODYN).
