Sažetak
Hair is easily available tissue suitable for early detection and monitoring of trace elements nutritional deficiency and toxicological excess. The hair profile of 22 trace elemnts was studied in the cross-sectional sample of 199 men and 730 women from allover the Croatia. We observed a high incidence of trace element deficiencz and/or excess (imbalance)of about twenty percent of analyzed samples. Most frequent imbalances were that of Mn, Se, Zn, Fe, Mg, Cr, P, Cu, and K in men and Mn, Fe, Se, Zn, Cr, K, Si, and Mg in women. The values of technogenic elements Al, As, Be, Co, Ti Pb, Ni, V, Cd, and Sn were higher in men then women.
