Sažetak
This chapter examines the individual status of the child and the adolescent in EU law. More specifically, it observes the development of the rights of children in the EU, from a time when these rights were completely neglected to a time when they are recognized as independent rights. After first defining child and adolescent as basic concepts, the chapter examines the development of children’s rights in the EU in the period before and after the adoption of the pivotal Lisbon Treaty. The chapter will offer conclusions and suggestions on how the status of children in the EU can be improved.
