Sažetak
The paper addresses the need to establish a Korean language lectorate within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb in the context of the accelerating development of relations between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Croatia, with particular consideration of the two countries, has crystallized the need to establish not only a lectorate - which have lately cropped up in various schools and institutions of higher education in Croatia and the broader region - but also other forms of teaching, which would pave the way towards full-fledged Korean studies. This paper lays stress on the elements of tradition and current state of affairs of philological studies in the Faculty in Zagreb, and on the existing situatuon in the Department of Indology and Far Eastern Studies, arguing for a course of action that could facilitate the whole procedure by reflecting the specific organization of the Faculty. The call for organizing Korean studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is justified when we consider the Faculty is the largest and most important institution for the humanities and social sciences in Croatia.
