Sažetak
Monitoring of oil, water and SiO2 content in sunflower seed and the prepared meal prior to entrance into pre-pressing device (Type VP) and final pressing device (type NP), changes in the meal content along the screw as well as the oil residue content in the meal at the exit of both types of press gave the opportunity to study effectiveness of knife protection procedures on effectiveness of oil extraction. It was proved that introduction of protection procedures in domestic oil extraction works may prolong life time of operating press components, reduce loss of fuel, solvents and press filters. The study of change of carbirized protected knives with vanadium treated lead to decrease of tiny particle content in the meal from 5 to 7%, better exploitation of the installed capacities of the oil extraction press, and reduction of number of standstills caused by change of the used up knives, from four per year to two standstills during annual campaign.
