Sažetak
Identity has been investigated from various perspectives in Second language acquisition (SLA) research. In second language (L2) motivation research, Dörnyei (2005, 2009) considers learners’ L2 self-concept based on future possible selves (Ideal L2 self). Jenkins (2007) suggests that the use of English as a lingua franca (ELF) has led to multiple identities among users which are not affected by ‘native speaker’ norms. Kalocsai (2009) proposes that ELF speakers create identities within communities in which they use ELF. The aim of this study was to investigate various aspects of Erasmus students’ L2 identity, including their Ideal L2 self, English speaking self-efficacy, and ELF identity. The results indicate that Ideal L2 self was not a central element of students’ selfconcept, their level of self-efficacy regarding ELF usage was high, there was use of accommodation among Erasmus students which helped create a group identity, and ELF was considered a unifying instrument among students.
