Sažetak
We want to present an ongoing research on maritime pilgrimages, at the moment focused on sites located in Galway County in Ireland and in Zadar County in Croatia. The presentation will build on two case studies: maritime pilgrimage in Carna to the island of St MacDarra, and maritime pilgrimage in Nin to island of Zečevo and Madonna of Zečevo. Based on these examples we want to discuss theoretical and methodological issues of researching and observing very unique practices of maritime pilgrimages in the context of pilgrimage studies. We will problematize the role of tourism, local identities and transnational ties in the process of maintaining and continuity of these pilgrimage practices.
