Sažetak
This paper discusses the need of preforming the necessary hydrographic and Lidar measurements for the purpose of creating the high quality base for determining the retention capacity and the existing state of water as well as the water-dependent ecosystems in the floodplain area of Nature Park Kopački rit (NPKR). In order to determine the retention capacity of NPKR, it is necessary to conduct geodetic measurements of the land area, using the contemporary and extremely fast aerial technologies of Lidar, as well as the hydrographic measurements of the areas under water (canals and lakes). Collected data would be merged into the single 3D terrain model. This 3D would be the base for determining the existing state of water and and water-dependent ecosystems, and for all further mathematical calculations and simulations for the research of the necessary revitalization and preservation of the NPKR retentive capacity. The key hydrographic field measurements are the ones collected using the sub-bottom profiler on the Vemeljski Dunavac (the most important and the biggest natural channel) and other channels which pass the water from Danube and Drava to NPKR. The purpose of this measurements is to determine the thickness of the sludge deposits at the bottom of the Vemeljski Dunavac and other measured channels. The Sub-bottom profiler uses ultra-low sound frequencies which have the ability to penetrate trough sedimented layers beneath the current bottom of the riverbeds that enables defining the thickness of the settled sediments and sludge beneath the riverbed. In the revitalization study this data can be used in order to make decisions and plans for sludge extraction process, i.e. deepening of Vemeljski Dunavac and other channels. Using this activity, the intensity of the geomorphological changes can be determined and compared to the prior periods. Also, the created 3D model can be compared with existing historical maps in order to determine the intensity of the geomorphological changes trough periods.
