Sažetak
Retinoscopy is an objective method of measuring the optical power of the eye. We describe retinoscopy as objective because we evaluate the eye as an optical instrument ignoring any information eye transmits to the brain. With retinoscope we illuminate the inside of the eye to observe the light that is reflected from the retina. There are two types of retinoscopy: static and dynamic retinoscopy. In static retinoscopy the patient fixates the object at long distance (6 m) ; if the patient is myopic you see the reflection moving ¨against¨ the observation system motion ; in case of hyperopic eye the reflection is moving ¨with¨ the motion and in emetropic eye there is no motion on the reflex (neutral motion). In performing dynamic retinoscopy the patient is instructed to fixate an object at closer distance. The patient looks at letters or group of letters. Dynamic retinoscopy methods are: the Cross Method, the Sheard Method, Tait’s Method, Monocular estimate method (MEM), Bell Retinoscopy, Nott’s method, Low Neutral and High Neutral Methods.
