Sažetak
University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica organized a Optometry Summer Academy 2015 that was held in Zadar, Croatia. Students in academy had opportunity to study different fields of optometry like pediatric optometry, vision therapy, lens fitting, aftercare, pediatric optometry, myopia control, sport vision, low vision, ophthalmoscopy … The advanced techniques were taught in seminars and workshops with plenty of hands-on opportunities. Summer academy was organized mainly to unite knowledge from different countries and with desire to improve optometric education internationally. Summer Academy had 30 participants from 6 different countries. The main aim was to train the individual optometrists from different countries and to developed same standards. This summer academy has shown that the optometrists can work with same standard no matter where they are coming from. All participants were satisfied with the acquired knowledge. It is important to exchange experiences, knowledge and practice. Survey was conducted and the Optometry Summer Academy was evaluated with an excellent grade. Also all participants at the Summer Academy were awarded with 3 ECTS points for attending the Academy. Except learning new things and developing knowledge about optometry, all participants had the opportunity to get to know each other and their culture and lifestyle, and of course about optometry in their country. Summer Academy organized also all kind of different trips to Croatian coast, and other fun activities.
