Sažetak
In this paper, the authors emphasize the importance and the application of the economic functions of bank guarantees in the economic reality in the light of the current lex mercatoriae. They analyze the international regulation of bank guarantees with special reference to the latest edition Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees (URDG 758), in force since 1 July 2010. The authors emphasize the necessity of harmonization of national legislation with global banking trends, which will exert influence on the macro economic level, but also at the micro level through instructions to business people how to use bank guarantees in relation to other instrumentime international commodity payments and in some cases improve their business.
