Sažetak
Perception and attribution of responsibility for unwanted sex is important topic in the study of sex crimes. Several researchers found that men, more than women, support rape myths and attribute responsibility to a victim. The purpose of the present research is to investigate gender differences in perception and attribution of responsibility for unwanted sex. Study participants were 613 students of University in Zagreb. Three different scenarios were presented to the participants. Following each scenario, the participants were asked to answer following questions: 1. is that incident criminal offence, 2. is the victim responsible for what happened, 3. should the victim report the incidence to the police, 4. should the perpetrator be punished, and 5. what would be appropriate punishment for the perpetrator. There are significant gender differences in all questions in a way that males support rape myths and attribute responsibility to a victim more often than females.
