Sažetak
Croatian children’s literature comprises the period of about a century and a half. The entire 19th century, the big century in children’s literature of the world, where the complete development was realized and where many works of high artistic value were created. During that time, Croatian children’s literature was creating conditions for normal development, for clarification of concepts, for fighting for freedom from slavery to pedagogy and for creating a reading public. Particular works of high artistic value developed in the first part of the 20th century, but it is only in the mid 20th century that Croatian children’s literature is on equal footing with children’s literature of the world. The second half of the 20th century was crowned with numerous works of high artistic value which have excellent acceptance among children.
