Sažetak
The proto-conceptual strategies that started to emerge in the early 1960s and conceptual art practices in the 1970s prioritized freedom of creation and behaviour, autonomy from the state, and intellectual resistance to the forces that deprived the individual of a life lived in accordance with his personal needs. These artists used humor, irony and absurdity as secondary means to somewhat alleviate the conditions of artistic production, without diminishing the subversive aspects of their works. They responded to social divisions, disparities, limitations and lack of understanding with knowledge and, often enough, humor. This was how they created an important oeuvre of analytical, critical and self- reflexive works, making almost invisible interventions in public or certain exhibition spaces. The experiments in language, critiques and parodies of political and social norms, as well as of artistic ones, attest to the emergence of a new generation of artists who—with varied intensity—were active within social and artistic fields.
