Sažetak
Although tourism is one of the main driving forces of economic development, besides its positive impacts the negative impacts of tourism should also be consider. In order to set up programs to minimize friction between tourists and residents and to gain resident support of tourist ventures, studies of the residents, perception of tourism impact and development are useful. This study aims to understand perception of residents about tourism development in city of Šibenik. The purpose of this study is to determine resident attitudes to the economic, sociocultural, and ecological impacts of tourism development in Šibenik. The objective is to identify key factors related to the significance of tourism development based on attitudes of inhabitants of Šibenik, as well as to determine whether there are differences in attitudes based on age and place of birth of the respondents. To achieve that, research was conducted based on a survey questionnaire among residents of Šibenik. The questionnaire was prepared following a review of existing literature dealing with residents, perception of tourism development. The scale development process and testing of the scale is described in this paper. The findings of the study are discussed and the conclusions of the study are provided.
