Sažetak
This paper deals with the analysis of the development and use of farming tractors adapted for forest works; wood skidding by use of winch; transportation of wood by semi-trailers and silvicultural works in the Croatian forestry. By fitting forest equipment on farming tractors, a completely new tractor assembly of specific morphological characteristics has been developed. Using of a database made of 581 farming tractors, the area they take in the field of form indexes has been analyzed. The diversity of application of farming tractors caused large dispersion of their form indexes so that they covered completely the area of form indexes of the skidder family and partly even the forwarder family. The changes of morphological characteristics of farming tractors made by fitting forest winches has been partly investigated and the tractor assemblies with semi-trailers and tractors designed for silvicultural works are still to be investigated.
