Sažetak
Regeneration of the liver is an ideal model to study the mechanism of tissue proliferation and it can provide a better view of the mechanism of neoplastic and some liver diseases. Polar lipids in biomembranes during the liver regeneration in the mice were studied at different stages (1, 2 and 7 days after surgery) by the determination of the phospholipid fatty acid (FA) composition.FAs were analysed by gas chromatography. Differences among groups were tested by nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U-test. The FA composition in the liver phospholipids was affected by liver regeneration. The results showed a significant change in C16:1, C20:1 and C20:4. The C20:4/C18:2 and C20:4/C200:6 ratios reached the minimum on the 1st day and the maximum on the 7th day. The maximum saturated fatty acids (SFA) and the minimum unsaturated (UFA) were found on the 1st day during liver regeneration after one-third partial hepatectomy and then returned nearly to the preoperative level. The highest content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) was found at the preoperative level and reached the minimum on the 1st day. The highest content of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) was found on the 7th day and reached the minimum on the 2nd day. The UFA/SFA, PUFA/SFA ratios, PUFA and UFA followed the same tendency. The altered FA profiles suggest a change in fluidity of the membrane in which FA could play a role in transmembrane signalling related to altered cell proliferative and apoptotic pathway.
