Sažetak
The indisputable need for sustainable principles in education is being widely discussed within the discourse on educational changes. The notion of sustainable development is founded in the discourse of whole human development. The affirmation of sustainability principles upon its implementation in school changes has not been solely focused on the issues dealing with the students' achievements on knowledge tests and grades, it also encompasses students' satisfaction with the school, that is different dimensions of school life, as important indicators of their wellbeing. It deals with the set of experiences regarding pupils' perception of their learning processes, school-work success, preparing for the future, and the quality of human relations in the school. Within that context, the research on quality of school life has been conducted on a sample of 434 higher grade pupils. The research results provide information about the extent of pupils’ satisfaction with the school on a global level, and regarding different dimensions of school life. Differences in assessments regarding sex, age, and school achievement are also tested. Based on the results, this paper analyses improvements of the quality of school life as the foundation of affirmation of sustainable changes in school system.
