Sažetak
Kindergartens diet monitoring and its improvement has proven to be of great health benefit to both parents and children. The research aim was to determine parents and their children dietary and physical activity habits and parents’ satisfaction with kindergartens diet in order to improve kindergartens diet quality and dietary habits of parents and their children. The cross-sectional study included 349 parents (14% men, 86% women) and their 349 pre-school children (50% boys, 50% girls). Their dietary and physical activity habits, and kindergarten diet satisfaction were obtained with the questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the χ2-test. More than 50% of parents were engaged in some sports activity, men statistically significantly more (p<0.001) than women while 40% of children have organized sports activities outside kindergarten. Most of parents (70%) had breakfast daily with no statistical significant difference according to gender. Mostly they had three meals per day, men statistically more than women (58%, 39%, p=0.006, respectively). Children for breakfast usually had light meal, boys statistically significant more than girls (43%, 29%, p=0.006, respectively). Only 3% of children ate fast food more than once per week. Parents were highly satisfied with kindergartens diet (89%). This study results confirmed the importance of kindergartens diet planning, diet quality monitoring and its improvement trough kindergarten stuff and parent’s education in which stands out significant role of public health nutritionists.
