Sažetak
Tourism and hotel industry are widely recognized as a significant source of profit in Croatia. While tourism and hotel industry are considered the promoters of the Croatian economic growth, supply chain analysis is assuming a significant role in business management. It is therefore crucial to analyse the determinants and the core components of the supply chains in order to capture the main patterns that will allow adequate quantitative analysis, modelling and forecasting. Purpose – The paper tries to explore the core methodological issues and implications for performing quantitative analysis and examining the determinants of the supply chain in the hotel industry. Design/methodology/approach – In order to enable future empirical researches of the supply chain in the hotel industry and collecting valuable pieces of information, a comprehensive desk research and review of the hotel industry modelling as well as forecasting literature was carried out. The present study aims to emphasize the necessity of more systematic supply chain determinants quantitative analysis and researches. Findings – The paper attempts to give an initial picture of some core methodological and theoretical issues in analysing the supply chain in the hotel industry. The evidence from this study should support the assertion that there are strong rationales for more significant efforts to promote empirical researches on supply chains in the hotel industry. Originality of the research – The study aims to provide guidance and recommendations for future quantitative analyses of supply chains in the hotel industry, both for practitioners and researchers. This study provides a methodological start point helpful for further quantitative analyses and modelling of the supply chain in the hotel industry. Such more detailed and systematic studies should be considered as a starting point of future macroeconomic development strategies, pricing strategies and hotel sector routing strategies in Croatia as a predominantly tourism oriented country.
