Sažetak
In the present work the possibility for using unicellular algae Chlorella minutissima (Fott et Novakova) as a test stimulus in order to study in vitro phagocytic activity of Ostrea edulis L. hemocytes at different temperatures and in different media is investigated. Cultures of C. minutissima are readily available at aquaculture hatcheries and therefore could be used in the simple method described here to test hemocyte activity in situ at the oyster culturing plants. Data on the phagocytic activity of hemocytes obtained using this method could help in the assessment of health status and susceptibility of cultured oysters to infection.
