Sažetak
The accelerated rate of urbanization leads to numerous detrimental effects such as overpopulation, air pollution, light pollution and traffic jams. The city authorities all over the world are aided by various technologies in tackling these issues. The application of technologies such as IoT and BigData and their integration via numerous open-source solutions enables the creation of various smart solutions and environments. The purpose of this paper is to present a smart city concept with reference to already tested and successful projects. The focus of the paper is the analysis of implemented solutions in major cities worldwide as well as the entire process leading up to the final implementation. Furthermore, the paper will discuss the kinds of adaptations at various levels which are necessary to implement in order to create an adequate concept. Research methods such as analysis and description as well as secondary data processing will be utilized to analyse the finalized projects, all of which include the application of technologies to create smart solutions and environments. The paper suggests a new model of a smart city based on the use of ICT technologies and smart solutions aimed at the enhancement of the living conditions in large metropolitan areas.
