Sažetak
The possibility of using new materials in civil engineering is described with an emphasis placed on the safety of constructional systems built up of these materials. New materials and systems have substantial advantages over traditionally engineered materials and constructions which always consider the worst-case scenario and as a result, the design contains large margins of safety. One of the tasks of this paper would be the incentive for establishing new regulations in the sense of safety evaluations and classification of intelligent structures by following theoretical lines of direction of the contemporary probabilistic safety theory.
