Sažetak
A modern concept in diagnosis and control of marine diesel engine is based not only on real measured values, but also on comprehensive knowledge elicited from experts. Therefore, an important step in the development of a knowledge base, and later in its effective use is a good choice of knowledge formalization and representation scheme. In this paper, some knowledge representation paradigms are shortly described with more attention being given to the ones that use new approaches and methods like fuzzy logic and neural networks. An example of fuzzy knowledge representation scheme is given for marine engine speed control.
