Codium bursa is a green seaweed, belonging to the class Chlorophyta, with great potential being a source of bioactive compounds for health improvement. This study aimed to investigate the influence of process parameters of ultrasound-assisted extraction of Codium bursa for total polyphenol content (TPC) and antioxidant activity including DPPH free radical scavenging capacity (DPPH). Codium bursa was collected in May 2018 from the Adriatic Sea then lyophilized and kept in the dark until the extraction. Ultrasound-assisted extraction was performed and the influence of temperature (30, 50, 70 °C), time (30 and 60 min) and solvent ethanol:water ratio (50 % and 70 % v/v) on the phenolic content were determined. The total polyphenol content was determined by Folin-Ciocalteu method. The results showed that process parameters had the influence on the TPC and antioxidant activity. The highest TPC had the extract obtained by UAE conditions of 60 min, 30 °C and 50 % EtOH, but the highest antioxidant activity had the extract of 60 min, 70 °C and 50 % EtOH. The fatty acid content of Codium bursa was determined by GC-FID. Retention time of fatty acids is checked with Supelco 37 component FAME MIX. Fatty acids that dominate in Codium bursa extract are C16:0 palmitic acid (25.4%), C18:1n9 oleic acid (36.5%), C18:2n6c linoleic acid (11.6%) and C18:0 stearic acid (9.0%).
