Sažetak
The current concept of informed consent was developed and codified mostly in the USA and Scandinavian countries during the second part of the 20th century and transferred to Croatia. This notion of consent is deeply rooted in the culture of promoting individual well-being in Western moral philosophy. It has direct roots in the 1949 Nuremberg code, where the need for voluntary consent to any experimental procedure or studies in Germany was clearly stated. With the rise of human rights during the following decades, the informed consent concept was developed successfully by combining theoretical arguments with practical standards and guidelines for its use.
