Sažetak
Tumor is malignant disease characterized with uncontrolled cell growth and division along with contingency to form metastasis. In straggle to prevent development of malignant disease notable part belongs to food with significant bioactivity. Garlic (Allium sativum) is known as a foodstuff with prophylactic and therapeutic properties. It is biological activity arise from allin which disassemble to alicin and active sulphide components. Various procedures of aqueous extraction leads to extracts with different assembling of biologically active compounds. Evaluated extract was prepared by application of cold atmospheric plasma assisted extraction (CAPAE) while extract composition was determined by GC-MC method. Antitumor activity was evaluated by MTT test on four human cell lines (HeLa, CaCo-2, MCF-7, NCI-H358). Data were analyzed by Mann Whitney U test (p<0.05) in STATISTICA 11 software. Application of CAPAE give aqueous garlic extract with 17 different components. Among them, one was active sulphide component known as di-2-propenyl or disulphide. with 8, 061 minutes of a retention time. Antitumor activity of garlic extract was tested in concentration range from 2-5 mg/ml. The highest efficiency in suppression of tumor cell growth was determined at the concentration of 4 mg/mL which inhibited cell growth of CaCo-2 by 90.6%, HeLa by 84.1%, MCF 7 by 82.6% and NCI- H358 by 100%). CAPAE is a new approach in preparation of aqueous garlic extracts. Complex composition of different detected components probably act in synergy producing recorded inhibitory effect on tested cell lines.
