Sažetak
An analytic solution for the stresses and displacements of short orthotropic thin-walled columns of open bi-symmetrical cross-sections under the eccentric axial tip force is presented in this paper. Expressions for stresses and displacements are derived on the basis of the theory of bending and the theory of torsion of thin-walled beams of open section with influence of shear. The normal stresses are given (i) by the compression component, (ii) by the bending components in the principal planes and (iii) by the torsion component with respect to the cross-section principal warping coordinates. The displacements are given by the classical bending and torsion components and by the additional bending and torsion components due to shear. Comparisons with the finite element solutions obtained by using shell element are provided.
