Sažetak
This thesis presents an analysis of a newspaper column article. The Introduction focuses on my motivation for choosing this topic and a brief presentation of the author and her work. The introduction is followed by the main body of the source text and the translation of the target text. The analysis of the text concentrates on the genre, source, audience, purpose of writing, authenticity, level of style, level of formality, layout, coherence and cohesion, vocabulary and terminology, syntax and sentence patterns. I analysed gender neutrality in the source text since I find it very important for the translation of the target text. Another interesting thing was the aimed audience – which was general public. In chapter 4, I focused on the functions of the language according to Jakobson. The analysis elaborates the issues, problems and the challenges that I faced while resolving the translation problems. It also analysed the types of relationships between the source and target text segments. The Conclusion provides my point of view on translation, summary of the translation process and the sources used during the translation process.
