In the context of modern mediation practice, a mediator plays a role as process manager where s/he manages the process and guides the parties to a settlement of their dispute. A mediator is educated to mediate in disputes between parties, as a neutral, third person, appreciating ethical principals in directing communication professionally to gain a settlement, taking account of parties` common interestsA mediator does it by mediating ; a process by which compromise or agreement is reached while avoiding argument and disputeseeking mutual benefit and maintaining a relationship are the keys to a successful outcome.
