Sažetak
This paper reviews venture capital and private equity investments in the world and in the Republic of Croatia. The paper emphasizes the importance of examining venture capital in the light of recent developments in corporate finance and its distinctiveness from other forms of financing. In order to understand current development and dynamic, the paper adopts a framework that combines venture capital and private equity analysis. Literature is reviewed using this framework. This is followed by a review of the evidence on the performance of the venture capital funds in the Republic of Croatia and its possibility for further development. The paper suggests the potential development of investments of venture capital funds in the Republic of Croatia including the extension of the analysis to cover all stages of venture capital investment, examination of the private equity, as well as further analysis of deal structuring issues and investment realization and reconstructing.
