Sažetak
Network management has always been and is still one of the most important issues in telecommunication networks. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a worldwide-adopted network management protocol platform. As its name says, it is a simple protocol. But earlier SNMP versions suffered from the lack of security mechanisms. The third version of the protocol, SNMPv3, brought some new features into the world of network management, and one of them is security. Unfortunately, most of the networking equipment still uses SNMPv1. In this paper we propose the implementation of SNMP based proxy server that enables SNMPv3 to SNMPv1 conversion, and vice versa. Using the proxy it is possible to build a secure network management system.
