Sažetak
RC frame structures with unreinforced masonry infill is one of the most common type of construction all over the world. The strength and stiffness of this type of structures is highly influenced by the infill walls and the presence of opening in the infills determines their contribution in the resistance of such structures. Although, the presence of full infill can be considered by the well-known technique of equivalent diagonal strut, it is challenging for structural engineers to take into account the presence of openings in the infill during the design. Few macro models have been developed to address this problem, but they are either too complicated to use or create anomaly due to wide variation in the results. This master thesis focuses on macro modelling techniques of unreinforced masonry infill with openings under seismic action. All existing macro models are investigated and their complexity, advantages and drawbacks are analysed. A new macro model is proposed where an infill wall is discretized with the help of rigid elements. The discretized portion of infill is represented by pair of diagonal link element whose properties are calculated based on the idea of equivalent diagonal compression strut. To consider the presence of openings, the masonry zone as openings is excluded from model simply by removing or not defining diagonal link in that portion. The proposed macro model is validated with the results of experiment conducted at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek and micro model simulations of the same experiment. Furthermore, the results from the proposed macro model is compared to equivalent single strut models. Then the applicability of the model for its use in 3D frame structure is checked and finally the model is used in the analysis of a representative RC building from Antakya, Turkey.
