Sažetak
The Republic of Croatia has a great potential (primarily human and environmental) which ought to be consolidated and transformed into actual projects that would point the Republic of Croatia towards a positive trend on the ladder of international competitiveness. In the overall consideration of the issues regarding the system of knowledge and education management in the Republic of Croatia, it has to be said that there is plenty of room for progress, along with the positive steps that have already been taken. It is necessary to increase the allocation of funds for the system of education, higher education, and science in order to increase the competitiveness of the Croatian economy. In addition, it is necessary to provide employment opportunities for young people in order to immediately stop the emigration wave of the educated population which is taking its acquired knowledge to other countries. In this paper, the opinions of the target student group are analyzed based on a 2012 survey/research with a 5-year gap. Opinions are divided and, with the time gap, in 2018 they denote the same tendencies related to the importance of knowledge, education and employment opportunities after the completion of studies.
