Sažetak
The improvement of transport conditions in urban area is a precondition for their sustainable development. In the city of Zagreb the highest impact of air pollution is from road vehicles and especially big problem are intersections. The objective of this paper is to analyze the impact of road traffic on air pollution in the city of Zagreb. The methodology used to calculate i.e. evaluate the main pollutants generated by road vehicles was a seven -day pilot measurement of air pollution levels at two city intersections and EMEP/CORINAR methodology and for the calculation needs COPERT III. The application of the Trafficware- Synchro 4 Software, Traffic Signal Coordination Software was used to make the computer image of current condition of traffic routes and intersections and traffic flows. On analyzed intersections under the title BASIC situation and IMPROVED situation the data about emission, about the fuel consumption, fuel consumption efficiency, lost time necessary to pass intersection, speed and volume of traffic flows, etc. have changed. Results obtained by computer simulation indicated significant reduction of the main pollutants (CO, NOx, SOx, NMOC, PM) by using telematic systems as well as improved throughput capacity of traffic flows even without their reconstruction.
