Sažetak
Istria is known as a traditional viticulture country where a lot of old grapevine varieties still can be found, but they are very rare in new-planted vineyards. The description of those varieties are usually insufficient or mistaken. In 1989-91 and 1996-97 we made O.I.V. descriptors, phylometry, pomological analyses and electrophoresis of isozymes for 5 old istrian varieties: "Garganja", "Brajdenica", "Trebjan istrski", "Plavina" and "Hrvatica", all from the collection vineyard at the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism, Poreč (Croatia). We compared our ampelographic data with ISV data bank in Conegliano (Italy) for the following varieties: "Malvasia del Lazio", "Neyret", "Trebbiano romagnolo", "Trebbiano spoletino", "Ortrugo", "Bellone", "Montu", "Marzemina bianca", "Magliocco canino", "Sgavetta 1", "Clairette 69", "Durela, Inc. Terzi n1", "Bonarda di cavaglia", "Piccola nera", "Freisa" and "Avarengo". For all the tested Istrian varieties we found some varieties with the same GPI-PGI profile, except for the variety "Hrvatica" which expressed the unique GPI-3 and PGM-7 profile. This confirms our hypothesis that the variety "Croatina" is not the same as "Hrvatica". The later has good productivity potentials. The comparison of ampelographic data for the varieties of the same isozyme code from the Istrian and the Italian list showed that the Istrian varieties are morphologically different. The only unsolved dilemma is the equation of the variety "Plavina" to the Italian "Freisa". We suggest continuing the ampelographic research with the DNA analyses.
