Sažetak
The essay explores the development of an ancient eschatological tradition according to which, on Judgment Day, the Christ judge will show his wounds to the terrified sinners as a sign of reproach and condemnation. After emphasizing the role of emotions in the context of preaching and Judgment narratives, some of the early-, late- medieval and modern versions of this theme will be explored. The second part will focus on aspects of its inconographic developments and will offer some tentative remarks on its overall meaning in the context of Christian eschatology.
