Sažetak
Satellite Navigation is a global public utility, which could enable efficient services with high positioning accuracy. However, satellite navigation fails in urban, indoor and other applications lacking a direct sight to the satellites. Many applications of worldwide navigation infrastructure are still based on terrestrial navigation systems. Although the accuracy of Loran-C is not very high, the system is superior to nonaugmented GPS with regard to integrity and its low-frequency signal propagation. Especially in Europe, satellite based systems are not certified as stand-alone navigation systems for maritime and aviation purposes. Terrestrial and satellite systems have complementary characteristic and form a good basis for an integrated navigation system.
